Gutter Clearing
Gutter clearing is where I clear the insides of the gutters out. This is to clear any debris that may have fallen into your gutters, which in time may cause blockages and over spills.
First I start by getting my camera out to inspect the gutters. 9 times out of 10 it will be a pretty straight forward job, however some people have hedgehog gutter brushes or gutter guards.
These can cause problems with blockages, as debris will get stuck inbetween or underneath the mesh making it impossible to use the skyvac to clear them out.
If this is the case, I will need to be able to reach the gutters with my ladder. If this is not possible, you will have to get scaffolding up to get access. This can be a costly process.
Once the hedgehog or gutter guards are removed the clearing of the gutter can take place.
How do you clear the gutters out?
To clear the gutter’s I use a ‘skyvac’. This is a very powerful wet vac machine, that allows me to clear the gutters from the safety of the ground. I have a selection of attachments which allow me to access hard to reach places, making sure all the debris is cleared.
After clearing out the gutters, I get my camera back out to inspect the gutter to make sure 100% of the gutter is cleared.
Sometimes I use the old method of clearing the gutters, which is by hand. This depends on your property, which can be discussed at the time of the visit.
How often should you clear out gutters?
Most gutters are cleared out once a year, depending on your surroundings. If you have a lot of trees for instance these can cause more of a build up of debris in the gutters so may need to be cleared more regularly.

Gutter Cleaning
Gutter cleaning is when the external part of your gutter is cleaned. This includes the fascias and soffits. These can become very dirty and can look black/green depending on your surrounding area.
These are all cleaned from the safety of the ground using my water fed pole. Ideally water would be supplied from your outside tap if you have one, if not I will bring the relevant water needed. This can be discussed when viewing the property.
I will sometimes need to use a chemical on the gutters depending on how dirty they are. This is safe to use and does not damage the gutters or property in any way. Once the cleaning has been done everything is wiped down to give it that extra shine.
In some circumstances you may find the gutter has some staining on it, this is normally from sun damage and will not come off. We do our best to get all the marks off but some light staining may be possible.
How often do you need to clean the gutters?
With cleaning the gutters, fascias and soffits I recommend cleaning them every 12-18 months.
